What is the status of the Tamil Nadu Ownership of Flats Act after Promulgation of RERA effective 1 May 2017? If violations are there by the builder, whom do we approach for projects completed under Tamil Nadu Apartment Ownership Act?

New projects and ongoing projects at the time of notification of RERA, would come under the provisions of the Act. Any complaint against the promoter can be filed before the authority constituted under the Act. With respect to any dispute regarding projects completed before the coming into force of RERA, you can approach the Consumer Redressal Forum or a competent Civil Court. Owners may form an association to represent their interests and the Builder’s involvement is not necessary.
